Our college community is warmly welcomed through a number of open days across the calendar year.  Events designed to showcase Palmview SSC, to come together and celebrate our college community and to also enable successful transitions to a personal best at Palmview include:

Learning Guarantee Partnership Conferences:

Our familes join us at the start of each school year at the Learning Guarantee Partnership Conference.  This meeting, led by our students is the opporunity for Parents, Connect Teachers and Students to come together to affirm the partnership between home and the college to support each student to be purposeful in their pursuit of a personal best.   The Learning Guarantee Agreement is signed at the meeting.  Our students and teachers review this plan every term to ensure all students are on track for success.  The opportunity exists for follow up conversations at the Student Performance inteviews in Terms 2 and 4.

Sporting Events:

Parents and Carers are encouraged to join us at our sporting carnivals.  Across the year there are opportunities to attend and volunteer at carnivals including Swimming, Cross Country, Athletics and the PLC BOLT.  Regional Carnivals and interschool sporting opportunities are other ways parents can support our students.  We ask that you contact the college administration to register your interest in attending partcular events.

College Tours:

Every month our Principal welcomes families and prospective students to join a tour on a Tuesday morning to hear first hand about our Learning Guarantee, our inclusive learning culture and the world class facilities that our community enjoys.  More details are on the Tours page of our website.

Student Transition Events:

LEAP Days: Learning Enhancement at Palmview

Year 6 students with their sights set on being a member of our growing college community are invited to submit applications to attend one of two LEAP Days that are held in Semester Two.  The number of students on each day is limited to enable our dedicated staff to get to know our future graduates, and enhance the personal experience for them at high school.   Information is shared with our feeder primary schools so that our future enrolments can apply to attend. Orientation Day:

Secondary schools in the local area are working together to align our Year 6 into 7 Orientation Day.  Held on the second last Thursday of Term Four.  Our future Year 7 students come together from all of our feeder Primary Schools to meet and connect with their classmates for the following year.  Parents are encouraged to attend the morning session and join the executive for a cup of tea and a chat once the students head off to engage is a rich day of secondary school learning.  In 2023 the date of the orientation day is Thursday 30 November.
