Year 10 marks the beginning of the senior phase in education. It serves as the last year of the Australian Curriculum, laying the groundwork for the knowledge, understanding, and skills needed for advanced studies.
At Palmview State Secondary College, we lead the way through equity and excellence to create a dynamic school of first choice, where all are inspired and engaged in learning that delivers meaning, purpose and success. As the senior secondary schooling program is implemented for the first time from 2025, the College will continue to work with all students to be purposeful in pursuit of their personal best.
The first group of Year 12s will graduate from Palmview State Secondary College in November, 2027. In the first year of Senior Secondary, students will be supported through the Year 10 program to be engaged in a range of curriculum, vocational and extra curricular activities. These are designed to support them to be confident about the path that they choose to take in Year 11 and 12.
During this time, students will begin to work towards their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and, as appropriate, engage in a range of external opportunities that they are interested in.

Subject Selection
Year 10 subject selection will be conducted through Junior Learning Guarantee conversations in Term 3; a partnership between students, families and the College. As students navigate possible learning pathways, the offerings are structured to allow both semester and year long
courses of study.
